No. Students are given up to 12 weeks to complete the six-week session. If the student needs more than 12 weeks to complete the course, the student/parent will need to contact our office in order to make arrangements for the additional tuition fee required to continue in the course. |

As a parent how can I monitor my student's progress? |

Parents may create a parent account which will give the parent access to reports such as the student's grades, log data, etc.In addition, the parent's login will provide Course Mail which the parent may use to communicate with their student and teacher regarding the student's progress. We highly encourage parents to check the student's online grades on a weekly basis for progress. Any concerns should be directed to the student's online teacher. |

No. There are no refunds upon beginning the course. It is strongly recommended that students determine if the Internet Academy program's credit retrieval courses will fill their needs. |

Credits are awarded for courses, but it is the student's responsibility to verify that their resident high school accepts IA credits towards graduation. |

How can I help my student be successful? |

Learning online is a Student – Parent – Teacher partnership. Parent involvement increases student success. When parents stay involved in making schedules, familiarize themselves with course material, assignments and grading progress, and communicate with teachers, students have a high degree of success.
It is recommended that the parent setup an Insight parent account, provided by IA, that will give the parent access to reports such as grades, log data, and Course Mail to communicate with their student and assigned teacher. |

How do I submit my assignments? |

Students are expected to use the submission tools within their online classes to submit all assignments. All communication between teacher and student should take place via the internal email system called Course Mail. Some assignments are designated to be mailed or delivered to IA, such as drawings or posters, or students may need to come into the computer lab via appointment for presentations or math exams. |

How is my progress evaluated? |

Student's work will be evaluated against the standards for the course. Meeting standards ensures a passing grade in the course. A "C" grade will be recorded to show the student has met standard for all assigned tasks for the particular course. Student grades will be available automatically as soon as the teacher grades the work. Teachers are expected to have work corrected within 3 school days. |

How many hours do students devote to a credit retrieval course? |

Typically a student should plan on 45 hours to complete the course during the 6-weeks session period. Some students may finish sooner, some may take longer to meet standards on all assigned tasks as defined by the Written Student Learning Plan. |

How many hours will a course require? |

Students are expected to spend at least 90-120 minutes per weekday per course for the credit retrieval session. However, students have access to our system 24/7 so students may find it convenient to work on weekends and holidays. |

Students are only allowed to take two IA credit retrieval courses along with their regular school day. |

The student will have up to 12 weeks to complete 6-week credit retrieval course. Students starting a class after February 23 will have the time remaining between their Monday start date and May 22. There are NO extensions for credit retrieval courses. |

How will I be graded in a credit retrieval course? |

Assignments will be graded according to meeting standards for the course. If an assignment meets standards, a C grade will be recorded for that assignment. If a student demonstrates mastery of standards throughout the course, a final grade of C will be recorded and .5 credit earned. Should a student desire a higher grade than a C, the student will need to register and take the regular 18-week, one semester course. |

Final grades will be emailed to the student and parent by upon completion of the session. A "Course Report" will be mailed to the family within one week of session completion. |

Internet Academy students are given access to our learning management system which has an internal email system called Course Mail. All students are expected to use their Course Mail as their primary method for communicating with their assigned IA teacher. |

We offer no refunds. Students/families are advised to confirm with their school counselor that our program is going to meet their needs prior to making tuition payment. |

Students have access to their grades through the Grades nugget within each of their courses. Student grades will appear automatically as teachers grade their work. Clicking the Refresh button on the Grades nugget will display the very latest grades. |

Students are responsible for contacting the Internet Academy helpdesk for assistance. Computer problems do not excuse the student from required work so it is very important to seek solutions for technical problems immediately.

A credit retrieval course provides students the opportunity to earn credit for a course they have already taken, but not yet passed. |

As soon as a student completes their Online Orientation and receives an email reply from the Online Orientation teacher a student is able to begin working on their course. Students have access 24 hours a day/7 days a week. |

Each student will have a Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP). The WSLP is reflected in the student’s online grades. Students are advised to check their online grades during the first week to view their learning plan. It is recommended that students print this and make a 6-week plan of completion. Students are required to submit each assignment as it is completed. This gives the student the best opportunity for feedback and progress toward completion. Do not wait to submit all of your assignments at the end of the course as it will not be accepted. |

When will I need to finish the course? |

Students are expected to complete a assigned activities at standard (70% or above) by the end of their credit retrieval session. Students will be given the specific date via their tuition receipt.
Students have up to 12 weeks if enrolled in a session that starts after September 15 and no later than February 23. Students with start times between March 2 and April 6 will have until May 22. Summer session students will have between June 29 and August 7. |

Who is eligible to take credit retrieval courses? |

Any student who has already taken the course and did not earn credit, as shown on their transcript. A transcript MUST be provided showing no credit was earned for the class. |

Will my teacher be available whenever I need assistance? |

Teachers work primarily from home and will answer questions in the order they receive them. Teachers will respond to help and question emails within 24 hours during the school week and may take 2 to 3 days to correct and return assignments. You will need to check with your own specific teacher for information on when they will be available. |
