| Q: |
I am homeschooling my student(s) and have filed an Intent to Homeschool form with my District. My student has never attended a school in my district. Do I still have to obtain a Release of Attendance? |
| |
A: |
Yes. An Intent to Homeschool form and a Release of Attendance form serve different purposes within the Washington state educational reporting system. |
|
| Q: |
Where do I obtain a Release of Attendance form? |
| |
A: |
These forms are usually available at your district's Administration Office (not your resident school building). |
|
| Q: |
Do I have to obtain a Release of Attendance every year? |
| |
A: |
Yes. Within the state of Washington, all Releases given by resident districts have an expiration date – usually the last day of a school year. |
|
| Q: |
If I am paying tuition for my student's course, do I still need to get a Release of Attendance? |
| |
A: |
No. Release of Attendance forms are only required if the student is not paying tuition for a course. |
|
| Q: |
How can I help my students be successful? |
| |
A: |
Be involved with their learning! Encourage them to develop a schedule for working in each class, along with a calendar of when work will be completed. Each course checklist will help with this. Discuss assignments with your students. Share in their learning. Celebrate their success. Each week, check the online gradebook for progress in each class. Contact teachers if you have questions. |
|
| Q: |
How do I communicate with my student's teachers? |
| |
A: |
Teachers encourage and appreciate parent communication. Your IA issued FirstClass® e-mail account is the best vehicle for communicating with your student's teachers. Phone calls are also effective means of communication when you have a question. Appointments may be made by contacting teachers by email of phone. |

| |
A: |
Internet Academy issues a FirstClass® e-mail account which is used for all parent-teacher communication. |
|
| Q: |
How do I set up an appointment to meet with my student's teacher? |

Contact the teacher via your Internet Academy issued FirstClass® e-mail, or call to setup a mutually agreeable time. |
|
| Q: |
As a parent how can I monitor my student's progress? |
| |
A: |
Parents can monitor student progress by checking online grades, which are uploaded weekly by the teachers. Parents may also use their Internet Academy issued FirstClass® e-mail account to communicate with their student's teacher(s) to check the student's progress as well. |
|
| Q: |
Will I receive progress reports or report cards on a regular basis? |
