What is a Comparing Characters?
Comparing Characters is another way of getting information from the story
you are reading. You can use formats you are already familiar with such as
the Venn Diagram or the Comparison Table that is shown below.
How will using Comparing Characters help me read better?
Using either of the graphic organizers suggested will assist you in putting
information on paper and looking at it in a type of picture. Many times this
helps you more clearly see the important points about the information you
have read. this helps when you are trying to make any type of comparison.
How could I use Comparing Characters in a class?
Knowing the characters better helps you to understand more thoroughly the
story you are reading. After reading a story, try comparing two of the characters
in the story. You may use either the Venn Diagram or the Comparison Table
below to help you "draw" a picture and see the characters more clearly.
Look at the sample table and the print off the blank one and practice your
new reading skill!
