Lessons 7-10
Measurement

Assessment Review Objective:

This is your chance to show your understanding and skills in measurement sense. You have learned and practiced many of the skills needed. Now you can prove it to yourself!

You will be asked to demonstrate your skills in areas practiced in Lessons 7, 8, 9, and 10. There will be some multiple choice and some short answer questions.

Here is a list of the objectives you have studied and practiced in this first set of lessons.

Lesson 7
Attributes and Dimensions

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the the concepts of and relationships among linear dimensions, perimeter, area, and volume.

Lesson 8
Measuring and Calculating

  • Measure directly and indirectly and use measurements to describe and compare objects.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of rate, calculate rates and other derived measurements, and determine units.

Lesson 9
Approximation and Precision

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how precision is affected by the unit of measurement.
  • Know when estimating is appropriate and estimate to obtain reasonable approximations.

Lesson 10
Systems and Tools

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate uses of standard units of measurement.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationships among units within the U.S. system and within the metric system.
  • Select and use units and tools that will provide an appropriate degree of precision.
