Assessment Review Objective:
This is your chance to show your understanding and
skills in number sense. You have learned and practiced many of the
skills needed.
Now you can prove it to yourself!
You will be asked to demonstrate
your skills in areas practiced in Lessons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and
6. There will be some multiple choice
and some short answer questions.
Here is a list of the objectives you have studied and practiced
in this first set of lessons.

Number and Numeration

the pictorial and symbolic representations of integers,
fractions, decimals, percents, and place value
of decimals.
- Compare and order integers, fractions, and decimals.

of the rational number system.
- Demonstrate an understanding of concepts and processes
involving prime and composite numbers, factors and
multiples, and divisibility.

Conceptual Understanding of Operations

- Demonstrate an understanding of operations on non-negative
rational numbers.

Lesson 4
Computation
|
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide non-negative whole
numbers, fractions, and decimals using rules for order
of operations

Lesson 5
Estimation
|
- Identify situations involving non-negative numbers
in which estimation is sufficient and computation
is NOT required.
- Use estimation to predict computation results and
to determine reasonableness of answers.

Lesson 6
Ratio and Proportion
|
- Demonstrate an understanding of and apply the concepts
of ratio and direct proportion.
|

page. This is a good place to start, but you will also want
to go back and review the first page of each lesson.
If you have time, you might skim over the Examples for
each lesson.
Skim the Rubrics section of this course to review tips
on answering multiple choice and short answer questions.
Be sure you are comfortable with the criteria for scoring
and evaluating short answer questions because scoring your
writing will be part of your responsibility.
When you are all warmed up and have enough time to complete
the assessment, go ahead and demonstrate your effective math
skills!
