Lessons 22-26
Solves Problems and Reasons Logically

Assessment Review Objective:

This is your chance to show your understanding and skills in solving problems and reasoning logically. You have learned and practiced many of the skills needed. Now you can prove it to yourself!

You will be asked to demonstrate your skills in areas practiced in Lessons 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26. There will be multiple choice, short answer, and extended-response questions.

Here is a list of the objectives you have studied and practiced in this first set of lessons.

Lesson 22
Define Problems

  • Identify the question(s) to be answered, known information, missing information, and/or extraneous information.

Lesson 23
Analyze

  • Compare, contrast, and interpret information from a variety of sources.

Lesson 24
Construct Solutions

  • Organize relevant information from multiple sources.
  • Use viable strategies and appropriate concepts, procedures, and tools to construct solutions.
Lesson 25
Conclude
  • Make and test conjecture.
  • Draw conclusions and support them.
  • Evaluate procedures and results.

Lesson 26
Construct Solutions and Verify

  • Use viable strategies and approprate concepts and procedures to construct a solution and then justify results using evidence, validate thinking and mathematical ideas and/or check for reasonableness of results and/or validate thinking and mathematical ideas.

Review the Tips for each lesson. Remember, there is more information on each lesson's page. This is a good place to start, but you will also want to go back and review the first page of each lesson.

If you have time, you might skim over the Examples for each lesson.

Skim the Rubrics section of this course to review tips on answering multiple choice and short answer questions.

Be sure you are comfortable with the criteria for scoring and evaluating short answer questions because scoring your writing will be part of your responsibility.

When you are all warmed up and have enough time to complete the assessment, go ahead and demonstrate your effective math skills!
