Example 2:

Which pair of figures are congruent? Using words, numbers, and/or pictures explain your answer in detail.

Once again this question is a 2 point question requiring both an answer to the question and an explanation of how you arrived at your solution.

Here is one way to solve this problem.

To begin, you need to make sure you totally understand the question you are being asked, which means understanding what it means for two figures to be congruent. Congruent figures have the same size and shape. Knowing that you are ready to begin answer the question.

To find which figures are congruent, you may want to take a piece of paper and trace over one of the figures in each set and then place the traced figure on top of the other figure. If they line up perfectly, the figures are considered congruent. Don't just look at the figures and say "it looks like these two are congruent". Looks can be decieving! Using tracing paper will show you the correct answer.

Once you find which figures are congruent, in this case the figures in set C, you need to support your answer. This is where you would include your using tracing paper and making sure you explain the meaning of being congruent as well. Once again, your answer, set C, is worth one point, and then your explanation is the second point.
