The answer to this problem is
letter C. Let's see why you chose letter C.
As you read earlier the tips for asking good questions
on a survey, you want to use questions that are clear,
specific, and will answer exactly what it is you
are looking for.
Beginning with letter A, you may notice that
the question states "favorite food"
at the school cafeteria. This question may look okay
to ask, but when you look at what it is Sara wants
to find it isn't a good question for her survey. She
wants to find their favorite "hot lunch".
Stating "favorite food" could mean
food brought from home, lunch traded from another
student, or even food bought from the vending machine.
Letter B, doesn't ask exactly what it is Sara
is looking for as well. This question is asking for
the "best lunch" which could mean cold
lunches or not even having lunch. This question is,
like A, not specific enough to give Sara the information
she needs.
Looking at the question in letter C, you may notice
that this asks just what it is Sara is looking for.
She is clear about what kind of lunch, hot lunch,
where, the school cafeteria, and what they like best.
This question when answered will give Sara the data
she needs.
Letter D, isn't specific as it even uses the word "usually" which
can leave the question wide open as to how to answer
it. It also just says lunch, not hot lunch, which
won't give Sara the accuracy of data she is trying
to collect.
After reading over the 4 possible questions Sara
could ask on her survey, letter C is the much
better question. It is clear, specific, and when
answered will give Sara what she is looking for. |
