Practice 1:

In a sack of 1000 jelly beans with 5 different colors of jelly beans. Wendy wanted to see how many of each color were in the sack, but didn't have the time to count all of the different colors of all the jelly beans.

  • How can Wendy make a good prediction as to how many jelly beans are red, yellow, green, orange, and white without counting all of the jelly beans?
  • Explain your answer in detail using words, numbers, and/or pictures.
  • This is a two point short-answer problem.

For the first point, write your response as to how Wendy can make a prediction of each color of jelly beans in the sack without counting all of the jelly beans.

For the second point, write your explanation as to why your solution will help Wendy make a good prediction.
