Instruction:

Read one of Aesop's famous fables, "The Wolf and the House Dog." Click on the book icon to the right. Then we'll see how to identify a summary statement in a multiple choice question. Keep the passage open as we work through this example.

Remember to:

  • Read the question before reading the passage.
  • Look for the sentence that best describes what mainly happens in the poem.

Think:

  • What are the key words in this question? (best tells, what fable about)
  • Which choices can you eliminate right away, and which are possibly correct answers?
    Remember the "YES, NO, MAYBE" tool.
