Senior Speaker, Chanel Mortimer

iA made it possible for me to travel the world while going to school and earning my diploma lets me have a seamless transition into college.
Thank you Grandma, Mom, Dad, Nicole, Justin, Story Lu, Grant, Bethany, Harley, Internet Academy teachers and staff, and everyone else who has supported me throughout my academic career. Your support has gotten me to this day. As I prepare for my next chapter at Tacoma Community College, I will remember the impact my Internet Academy teachers had on my life and I will not take that for granted. I cannot believe I am already graduating; and yet it is time for me to don my cap and gown and walk across a metaphorical stage to receive a diploma I have worked towards for twelve years. And so here I go, taking the next step towards my grand adventure.

iA makes it possible for students to have an easily accesible source for homework, help and the completion of their school requirements. Without iA, I wouldn't be graduating. I would like to thank my family and friends who are always there to support me as well as to push me to do the best that I can when challenges are in my way.

iA made it possible for me to finish school faster, I would almost be a year and a half behind if it were not for iA.

The only people I am thankful for throughout high school are my parents; they have been my rock for 19 years. They have been by my side throughout highs cool, even when I failed almost every class for a full semester. At the beginning of high school, I was so enthusiastic to step into that hallway, I was motivated, and inspired to start a life for myself, to make new friends, have amazing classes, and become an adult. But no one ever tells you how draining high school is, mentally and physically.
After the first year in high school I became very depressed and very lazy. I started skipping one class, than two, than soon I only went to two classes. I was then told that I would be a year behind my class, so there I was, not graduating with my own friends, my family disappointed in me. It was hell. So that was the time I decided I needed to take school seriously, I needed to get my ass back into class and get it done. So here I am, graduating with a diploma. I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I am thankful for high school, because I have grown, and I have become a better person, I have become motivated and inspired again, and I can’t wait to start my adult life, even if it is a year late.
