Learning Structure
Internet Academy is a blend of asynchronous (on your own schedule) lessons and synchronous (at the same time) learning. iA learning is primarily asynchronous.
Live Zoom Sessions (Synchronous learning)
K-5 scholars meet with their teacher and classmates daily between 9 am-10:30 am. PE and Music have one live session a week.
6-12 scholars have Advisory Mon. & Fri. at 9 a.m. There is also one scheduled live Zoom support session per class per week.
Assignments, Quizzes, Assessments and other lessons (Asynchronous learning) should be completed daily according to the Written Student Learning Plan for each course. Scholars set their own schedule for asynchronous learning with the help of their learning coach in the home.
Learning time requirements: 5.5-6 hours each day for a total of 27.75 hours per week.
A Learning Coach was identified by each family at the time of enrollment. The Learning Coach time commitment varies by grade level and individual scholar needs.
Estimated Level of Learning Coach Involvement: 5-6 hours per day for elementary, 3-4 hours per day for middle school and 1-2 hours per day for high school.

PE/Music (day differs by grade): 1:15-2:00 p.m.
Asynchronous Study Time: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
iA 6-12 Weekly Schedule
Monday & Friday: 9:00-9:50 a.m. Advisory on Zoom. Take the WAC Quiz every week.
Tuesday – Thursday: Check the Home page in each class for Zoom times and build your daily schedule or view the Zoom Schedule on Canvas.
A good way to build your daily schedule is to first add the Zoom times and then add your asynchronous study times in Canvas around them. The asynchronous work allows for flexibility in your day. You can use your Calendar in Canvas (Zoom times may already be there!) or use another calendar system you like.
