iA offers online public school from kindergarten to diploma.
iA learning is primiarily asynchronous. All lessons occur through interactive lessons in our online textbooks, videos, or virtual sessions with teachers. Students complete interactive lessons in online textbooks as learning and practice, then complete quizzes, tests, and projects that are the same or similar to what they would do at other Federal Way schools to show their learning to count towards their final grades.
Scholars get one weekly virtual session for each class with a planned lesson and opportunity to to interact with and learn with other classmates in their grade level. Teachers also have a weekly drop-in “office hour” for live support. If students need individual virtual sessions the teachers are happy to help and to schedule them.
Teachers are available via remind, email, and Canvas messaging other times. Weekly social zooms and clubs are also offered to support socialization and friendships. Examples include: Secondary Art Club, Gaming Club, Story Time, Beat Lab (Audio Production).
Other than the weekly zoom lesson session and office hours, there is no daily schedule with iA. Families are encouraged to set up a daily schedule that works for them and follow it consistently. Lessons are grouped by week to make it easy to remain on-pace.
High School Graduation Diploma
Internet Academy offers a high school diploma to full-time iA students who meet all the requirements of Washington State and Federal Way Public Schools. All iA graduates complete a High School & Beyond plan for a focused transition to the post high school world.
iA graduates have the option to participate in a live Commencement ceremony in Federal Way, WA.
Any student residing in the USA outside of Washington state may take Internet Academy classes as long as he or she is between the ages of 6 and 21 years. However, since the student is not currently a resident of Washington State the student must pay a fee for each class. The tuition fee currently charged is $345 per semester class. A student is given 90 school days to complete high school class credits and all classes are designed to be completed by a student working about 5-7 hours per week.
iA is fully accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission.
