iA offers online public school from kindergarten to diploma.

Asynchronous Lessons with Live Zoom Sessions

iA learning is primarily asynchronous. Most lessons occur through interactive lessons in our online textbooks, videos. Scholars complete interactive lessons in online textbooks as learning and practice. Then they show their learning by completing quizzes, assessments, and projects that are the same or similar to what they would do at other Federal Way schools.

K-5 scholars meet daily with their Homeroom teacher and classmates at 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Asynchronous lessons are completed daily with the support of a home-based learning coach. The learning coach can by a family member or other trusted adult and is identified at the time of registration.

6-12 scholars have one live Zoom lesson for each class per week. There is also one planned live Zoom support session per week. Advisory meets Monday and Friday mornings.

If scholars need individual virtual sessions the teachers are happy to help and to schedule them.

Teachers are available via remind, email, and Canvas messaging other times. Weekly social zooms and clubs are also offered to support socialization and friendships. Examples include: Secondary Art Club, Gaming Club, Story Time, Beat Lab (Audio Production).

Other than the weekly zoom sessions, there is no daily schedule with iA. Families are encouraged to set up a daily schedule that works for them and follow it consistently. Lessons are grouped by week to make it easy to remain on-pace.

Tuition and Out-of-State Information

Any student residing in the USA outside of Washington State may take Internet Academy classes as long as he or she is between the ages of 6 and 21 years. However, since the student is not currently a resident of Washington State the student must pay a fee for each class. The tuition fee currently charged is $345 per semester class. A student is given 90 school days to complete high school class credits and all classes are designed to be completed by a student working about 5-7 hours per week.

Eligible Washington State residents who remain enrolled full-time in another state public education program and/or wish to take more classes than is reimbursable through state per-pupil funding may also pay tuition at the rate of $345 per semester class.

Tuition classes follow the academic calendar of the Federal Way School District.
